Congregation of Mount Carmel (CMC)

“He said to them, Go into the entire world and preach the Gospel to all creation”. (MK.16:15)

July 16, 2016 is a memorable day in the history of CMC . As CMC is crossing the 150th years of its existence, God blessed our congregation to open a new mission in Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Mississauga. In response to the divine call and to fulfill Christ’s mission to proclaim the message of salvation, the initiative to start this mission came from the vision of His Excellency Mar Jose Kalluvelil. CMC, the first indigenous religious congregation for women in the Syro-Malabar Church was founded as the Third Order of Carmelites Discalced on February 13th, 1866 at Koonamavu, Kerala by St. Kuriakose Chavara with the cooperation of Fr. Leopold Bocaro OCD.
