As you are aware, Cardinal Mar George Alencherry who has led
the Church from May 29, 2011, as the Father and Head of the SyroMalabar Church, has retired from his position as the Major Archbishop.
Holy Father Pope Francis has written a very cordial letter accepting his
resignation on November 29, 2023. It has made a special reference to
his illustrious ministry as the third Major Archbishop of the SyroMalabar Church. We shall remember with gratitude his very bold,
zealous, sincere, and strenuous ministry during the last 12 years.
